Cheryl A. Thomas, R.D.H.

Born on May 14, 1965, Cheryl entered Dentistry in 1982 as an assistant for H.E. Bridgeman, D.D.S. in Plano, Texas. In 1985, she began a long working career with Bob Swepston, D.D.S. as a dental assistant. She received her Arts and Sciences degree from Richland college in 1991. In 1993, she received her Associates in Dental Hygiene from Tarrant County College. She returned to practice with Bob Swepston, D.D.S. after graduation as a dental hygienist. She has attended Texas Women's University in pursuit of her Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene.

In the fall of 1997, her pursuit halted as she was diagnosed with acute renal failure due to ANCA+ vasculitis, an autoimmune disorder. After four months of high doses of prednisone and oral chemotherapy drugs, she started peritoneal dialysis. March 18, 1999, she received the gift of life from her brother, Robert, at Baylor Hospital of Dallas. During her treatments she worked for J.T. Hedrick, D.D.S., M.D.S., Barrie Choate, D.D.S., M.D.S., and Jeff Johnson, D.D.S., M.S. in a Dallas pediatric practice. April 1, 2001, she semi-retired to the Texas gulf coast and has entered the professional dental lecture circuit.

Cheryl is currently a Bachelor of Health Science Candidate at Texas Women's University as a distance learning student and president of the Bay Area Dental Hygienists' Society. Cheryl, her kidney "Kinney" (that will be ten years old March 2009), and her husband of 22 years are doing great!
