My name is Cheryl Thomas. I am a dental hygienist, renal transplant recipient, published author, and motivational speaker. dentalInspirations, Inc. was created in 2001 to educate medical and dental professionals about the oral health for their patients living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and Organ Transplantation. Advances in surgical techniques, antirejection medications, and public education has not only increased the number of transplants performed, but has also extended the life expectancy of these individuals. Patients living with CKD and organ transplantion are unique patients in the dental office. Furthermore, because end stage organ disease is usually secondary to a systemic illness, education regarding standard dental treatment is essential prior to treatment.
